Before using for the first time…

Remove all labels, tags, and packaging from cookware. Wash your pan in warm water then towel dry thoroughly.  This removes all manufacturing, packing and shipping dust from your new Taste of Home® Cookware. Do not soak cast iron. Do not allow to air dry. After drying, rub all surfaces of cast iron cookware with a very light coating of vegetable oil using a cloth.

COOKING:

  • Although your cookware is pre-seasoned, it is recommended that you lightly coat the pan with a cooking or vegetable oil prior to each use.
  • Pre-Seasoned cookware can be used in all oven temperatures, plus under the broiler or over a campfire. DO NOT place your cookware in the microwave. It is also not recommended that you use your pre-seasoned cookware on a glass stove top.
  • Remove acidic foods from cast iron immediately after cooking and wash promptly to prevent damage to the seasoning.
  • Place your skillet on the burner and bring up to temperature together. DO NOT place a cold pan on a hot burner. Do not add cold food to a hot skillet.
  • Match burner size to skillet. ALWAYS use the burner that matches most closely with the diameter of your skillet.
  • Pre-Seasoned cookware is superior in heat retention and distribution. High heat is not necessary.
  • Always use a hot pad or mitt to remove the lid or remove the cookware from the stovetop or oven. Handles will get hot with use.
  • Cast iron should be gradually heated when preheating. Your pan may smoke if it is too hot; if this happens turn off the heat, allow it to partially cool and proceed with use.
  • Oven use up to 400˚F.
  • Using a lower heat setting can prevent food from sticking.
  • All utensils are safe to use – including metal utensils.
CLEANING:
  • Clean immediately after use.
  • Let cast iron cool-to-touch before attempting to clean. (Caution: Cast iron retains heat well, be patient in waiting for it to cool).
  • DO NOT SUBMERGE HOT CAST IRON INTO COLD WATER; this could cause your pan to crack.
  • Wipe the interior surface of the skillet with a rag to remove excess food residue.
  • Hand-wash only using hot water, and a nylon bristle brush or steel wool. Rinse well and dry thoroughly, immediately.
  • We do not recommend using metal scouring pads as these can remove the cast iron seasoning.
  • Oil skillet after each cleaning:
    • Pour ½ teaspoon vegetable oil on to the skillet; use paper towels to coat the interior surface lightly. The surface should appear dark, smooth and there should be no oil residue remaining. Let the pan cool completely before storing.
  • Re-seasoning instructions (Repeat process as needed):
    • Pour one tablespoon vegetable oil on to the skillet; use paper towels to coat the skillet, oiling the interior, exterior and handle.
    • Wipe off excess oil with a fresh paper towel, leaving the skillet lightly greased.
    • Heat the oven to 350˚F, place a piece of aluminum foil to catch drippings on the bottom rack. Place the skillet upside down on the top rack of the oven for one hour.
  • Turn the oven off and wait until skillet is cool to remove; then store.
  • DO NOT STORE COOKWARE WHILE IT IS WET; this can cause the cast iron to corrode.
  • In case of rusting:
    • Use a scouring pad to remove and wash away all rust.
    • Towel dry immediately after hand washing.
    • Follow the re-seasoning instructions listed above.

During this period, Range Kleen Mfg., Inc will repair or replace, at its option, any defective item returned to Range Kleen with original purchase receipt. If the item is out of production, an item of similar value and function will be substituted. Commercial use of this product voids this warranty. Incidental or consequential damages are not covered by this warranty. This warranty is non-transferable. This warranty will not cover damage caused by misuse of the product in direct opposition to the supplied use and care. All discoloration, scratches and stains, or other signs of misuse or abuse of the cookware that do not affect the function of your cookware, is not covered under this warranty.
